Job summary

Suncor Energy Inc. is seeking an intermediate to experienced Mechanical Engineer for our Base Plant Engineering team in Fort McMurray, AB. You will restore equipment, troubleshoot field failures, and support safe, reliable operations through integrity assessments and practical recommendations.

Relocation assistance is provided. Minimum requirements include 4 years of relevant engineering experience, a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Field experience supporting Maintenance and Operations in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line support by troubleshooting equipment issues and preparing cost-effective repair scopes for onsite and offsite maintenance within the Production Unit.
  • Use risk reviews, HAZOPs, management of change processes, and other safety checks to improve equipment safety and reliability performance.
  • Support major events and turnarounds with technical oversight, plan reviews, repair scopes, scope deviation guidance, and prompt responses to information requests.
  • Investigate failures, perform root-cause analysis, and lead minor plant and equipment modifications.
  • Develop technical evaluations for major equipment changes and projects using management of change and risk assessment.
  • Complete fitness-for-service assessments and recommend repair, replacement, or return to service.

Minimum Requirements
  • 4 years of relevant engineering experience
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Must be a registered Profession Engineer with APEGA
  • Field experience supporting Maintenance and Operations in an industrial environment
  • Technical strength and strong collaboration with client groups
  • Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent

Location and other Key details

You will work out of our Suncor Base Plant located in Fort McMurray, AB.

Your shift will be Monday to Friday.

This position is safety sensitive.
