Job summary

CMP Advanced Mechanical Solutions Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Designer to create jigs and fixtures for welding, assembly and inspection. You will design, validate and release concepts with SolidWorks under guidance from the Method Specialist, supporting manufacturing and quality teams.

The role requires a hands-on engineering mindset, GD&T knowledge, experience with weldments and sheet metal, and bilingual English/French communication with US customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient with SolidWorks with a minimum of 5 years of design experience.
• Technical aptitude with hands-on approach to engineering.
• Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing practices.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience with weldments and sheet metal are essential.
• Understanding of Geometric Tolerancing & Dimensioning (GD&T).
• Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent time management skills, able to manage competing priorities.
• Master the French and English language (customers from the United States).

Responsibilities

• Selecting components and materials to meet the design requirements.
• Prepare bills of materials.
• Work with internal stakeholders to review and improve designs.
• Support Production to troubleshoot assembly and/or fabrication problems.
• Participate in team brainstorming sessions.
• All other related tasks are considered part of the role and may be assigned as needed.

Job Description

The Mechanical Designer will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. They will be responsible to design jigs and fixtures to be used in welding (manual and robotic), assembly and inspection for a variety of products. The Mechanical Designer will be supervised by our Method Specialist and will be responsible for jig and fixture concept generation, component selection, cost validation, design for manufacturability, drawing creation, as well as routing release. The Mechanical Designer will also support the Manufacturing and Quality teams during the building and validation of their jigs and fixtures.
