With significant investment in expanded capabilities and infrastructure, the business is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation.

Responsibilities
  • Own mechanical design assignments for products, components, and assemblies from concept through production.
  • Develop and maintain 3D models, assemblies, production drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.
  • Translate product and performance requirements into practical, production-ready designs using GD&T and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Balance performance, manufacturability, quality, cost, and reliability throughout the design process.
  • Build and evaluate prototypes and support mechanical verification, validation, and field testing.
  • Analyze test results and field feedback, identify root causes, and implement design improvements.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and production issues, evaluate technical options, and develop practical solutions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve design, manufacturing, and product performance challenges.
  • Support the transition of new and revised products from engineering through design release and production implementation.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve product performance and manufacturability.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and revision controls.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance and support to less experienced engineering team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 3–7+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, product development, or a manufacturing-focused engineering environment.
  • Registration or eligibility for an appropriate professional engineering or technologist designation in Manitoba.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software, including modelling, assemblies, simulation, and production drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, DFM principles, tolerancing, and controlled design-release processes.
  • Hands‑on experience with prototyping, mechanical testing, verification, and validation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to translate engineering concepts into practical, manufacturable designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems, perform root‑cause analysis, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail, technical judgment, and commitment to engineering accuracy and quality.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply‑chain teams.
  • Experience with vibration, load, structural, and/or optical analysis is considered an asset.
