Job summary

BPA, an engineering firm with offices across Canada, is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer to lead major projects in the National Capital Region. The role emphasizes supervising teams, influencing technical direction, and building strong client relationships on diverse building projects.

The candidate will supervise design and coordination, mentor colleagues, and contribute to BPA’s flexible, collaborative culture with a hybrid work policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in building mechanical design and project management.
  • Proficiency in French and English (spoken and written).
  • Proficient with AUTOCAD, REVIT, and Office 365 Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical supervision, coordination, verification, and design for building mechanical projects.
  • Collaborate within a team to deliver mechanical design projects for institutional, office, commercial, cultural, and residential sectors.
  • Establish contact with clients to understand their needs.
  • Conduct surveys of existing installations.
  • Analyze, design, and adapt building-related installations.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and client reports.
  • Evaluate construction budgets and participate in project scheduling.
  • Draft specifications and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with external professionals from other disciplines.
  • Provide assistance for construction supervision.

Your Daily Impact

  • Provide technical supervision, coordination, verification, and design for various building mechanical projects
  • Collaborate within a team to deliver mechanical system design projects for different sectors (institutional, office, commercial, cultural, and residential) in building mechanics
  • Establish contact with clients to understand their needs
  • Conduct surveys of existing installations

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (membership in Professional Engineers Ontario is considered an asset)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building mechanical design and project management
  • Proficiency in French and English (spoken and written) with excellent communication skills.*
  • Proficient with AUTOCAD, REVIT, and Office 365 Suite.
  • Excellent ability to perform technical analyses, propose innovative solutions, and solve complex problems.
  • Ability tomanage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines and fee budgets.
  • Collaborative mindset and positive leadership to influence technical decisions and client relationships.
  • Strong team spirit, mentoring skills, and support for colleagues.

*English is essential due to participation in commercial projects outside Quebec and in national projects where all meetings and documentation are exclusively in English.
