Summit Air in Yellowknife, NT is hiring a Mechanic’s Helper to assist in maintenance and repair of aircraft ground service equipment and facility systems. The role supports a fast-paced aviation operation and requires strong technical aptitude and a reliable work ethic.

The candidate will participate in routine upkeep, diagnostics, and basic repairs, with opportunities to collaborate with leading teams within the Ledcor family.

Qualifications

  • 0–4 years experience in a maintenance shop environment.
  • Experience servicing and repairing motorized vehicles and industrial equipment is an asset.
  • Problem-Solving skills and strong technical aptitude are essential.
  • Ability to take direction and learn quickly; solid verbal, written and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft ground service equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Performs troubleshooting of aircraft ground support equipment on scheduled and unscheduled basis.
  • Performs immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on company equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Keeps Equipment Status Report and updates service intervals.
  • Liaises with vendors and secures favorable pricing; initiates purchase orders.
  • Keeps tools and support equipment in safe, operational condition and maintains a clean work area.

The Mechanic’s Helper will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of industrial aircraft ground service equipment, as well as general facilities maintenance.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Maintains and repairs aircraft ground service equipment in a safe, efficient manner.

  • Performs troubleshooting of aircraft ground support equipment on a scheduled/unscheduled basis.

  • Performs immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on company equipment.

  • Maintains and makes repairs to facilities in a safe and efficient manner

  • Maintains Equipment status report along with updating equipment service intervals.

  • Liaises with vendors and secures favorable pricing of parts and services; initiates purchase orders.

  • Keeps tools and support equipment in safe and operational working condition while maintaining a clean work environment.


Qualifications:


  • 0-4 years experience in a maintenance shop environment

  • Experience in servicing and repairing motorized vehicles and industrial equipment an asset

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Problem-Solving Skills/Strong Technical Aptitude/Strong Work Ethic/Ability to take direction and learn quickly/Strong verbal, written and computer skills

  • Ability to work well with others and alone

  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
