Job summary

Summit Air in Yellowknife, NT is seeking a Ramp Attendant to marshal aircraft on the ramp, unload/load baggage and cargo, assist with grooming and washing, and help prepare aircraft for departure. The role requires physical work, some supervision, and compliance with safety and security protocols.

Expect 4-on/4-off shifts with day and night schedules. Local candidates are preferred due to project location, with training provided and opportunities to develop skills in ground operations.

Qualifications

  • Training provided for the successful candidate.
  • Ramp, labourer or job-site experience is an asset.
  • Forklift or loader experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements including bending, climbing and heavy lifting.
  • Must hold a valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must meet pre-employment drug & alcohol testing requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain airport security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Marshals aircraft in ramp area; tows aircraft on the ground.
  • Unloads and loads passenger baggage and cargo to/from aircraft.
  • Assists with aircraft grooming and washing.
  • De-ices aircraft and assists crew to prepare aircraft for departure.
  • Performs snow removal duties as required.
  • Ensures necessary ground equipment is available in the ramp area for upcoming flights.
  • Assists with freight handling.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Ground Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Marshals aircraft in ramp area; tows aircraft on the ground

Work Conditions
  • 4 on,4 off rotating shift schedule including day shift 5:00am - 5:00pm and night shift 5:00pm - 5:00am

  • Working outside in all weather conditions

  • Those local to Yellowknife given preference due to the location of this project
