Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. in Magill—Hard Rock Canada is seeking a Mechanic Apprentice to assemble and fit components for heavy mining equipment using hand and power tools.

You will work from blueprints and work instructions, verify quality, and help maintain a safe, productive manufacturing environment. The role requires 2–5 years of mechanical assembly experience with large equipment, hydraulics/electrical knowledge, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

  • Apprentice mechanic, mechanical trade training, or equivalent of 2-5 years of mechanical assembly experience with large equipment, vehicles, or similar.
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics.
  • Proficiency in utilizing large tooling and equipment in the assembly process.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; computer literacy.
  • Flexibility, self-motivation, and drive to achieve customer satisfaction goals and targets.
  • Ability to work varied shift schedules.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Physical fitness with the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Verify conformance of parts to stock lists or blueprints.
  • Set and verify parts clearances.
  • Perform pre-assembly activities such as cleaning and lubricating parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work instructions/procedures to assemble parts or products.
  • Perform equipment assembly under the guidance of qualified mechanic technicians according to engineering blueprints and work instructions/procedures.
  • Rotate to various work cells as required.
  • Follow scopes of work within time constraints to meet established daily assembly production targets and delivery targets.
  • Look for faulty components during the assembly process and test assembled parts or products to ensure functionality.
  • Perform installation, inspection, reassembly, and adjustment of products as required.
  • Perform final checks and adjustments for any defects to ensure high-quality products.
  • Monitor the functioning of all tools and equipment and report any problems or substandard conditions to the supervisor.
  • Complete any required assembly documentation.

Job Overview

As a Mechanic Apprentice, you will be responsible for assembling and fitting components for heavy mining equipment using hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment. Working from blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions, you will perform assembly tasks, verify product quality, and help ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. Compensation Range

At Komatsu, base pay is just one part of a comprehensive total compensation package designed to support and reward our employees.

For this role,compensation starts at $26.00 CAD per hour. The final offer will be determined based on several factors, including the candidates' skills, experience, qualifications, and the position location.
