Mechanic 2
(Full Time– Existing Position)
The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking an energetic, self-motivated team player to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Mechanic 2.General Responsibilities: Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the Mechanic 2 will focus on fleet maintenance. Duties include but not limited to:- Annual CVOR Inspections and Certifications and semi-annual PM Inspections;
- Repair and maintenance of:
- heavy duty vehicles, (single and tandem axle trucks), equipped with plows and sanders
- heavy duty equipment (i.e. loaders graders, backhoe & tractor)
- light duty vehicles (i.e. pickup trucks)
- small tools and engines (i.e. chainsaws, lawnmowers etc.)
- electrical diagnosis, hydraulic systems diagnosis and repair,
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned from time to time normally assigned to other job classifications within the Public Works Department.
Qualifications:- A valid Ontario Truck and Coach (310T) License required, a valid Ontario Automotive (310S) & Heavy-duty Equipment Certificate considered an asset;
- Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades;
- Preferably possesses a valid Ontario Driver’s Class “DZ” License and ability to provide a clean driver abstract upon hire;
- A valid ozone depletion card or ability to obtain one within 6 months
- A minimum of five (5) years’ demonstrated experience repairing off-road heavy-duty equipment considered an asset;
- Familiar with electronic diagnostic equipment & computer software commonly used in the automotive mechanics’ trade, with a strong ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues and faults;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to complete forms and records accurately and legibly (work orders);
- Demonstrated interpersonal, time management and organizational skills;
- Knowledge and understanding of, and ability to apply, relevant safety policies, standards and legislation (Ontario Occupation al Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, etc.);
- Ability to perform physical demands of the position which include: heavy lifting, prolonged periods of standing, climbing, sitting and crouching as required;
- Must be a reliable self-starter and able to prioritize tasks and schedules according to changing demands and work with or without supervision;
- Ability to provide a clean criminal reference check upon hire;
- Normal Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
- Ability to work overtime may be required;

- Collective Agreement Article 11.05 “Trial Period” and Schedule “A” will be adhered to.
