Job description

Job Requirements and Responsibilities

This position requires a candidate with a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years. The work setting is typically a garage or workshop environment that may be dusty and dirty.

Tasks include:

1. Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace the unit.
2. Discuss work with supervisor.
3. Review work orders.
4. Road test motor vehicles.
5. Test automotive systems and components.
6. Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems.
7. Repair or replace mechanical units or components.
8. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications.
9. Perform scheduled maintenance service.
10. Test and adjust units to specifications.
11. Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements.
12. Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
13. Coach and instruct apprentices.
14. Diagnose and locate circuit, component, and equipment faults.
