Overview

Experienced and Qualified Mechanic Wanted! This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $32.00 to $37.65 depending on experience. We offer full benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and 401K Match.

The Mendocino Companies own nearly 450,000 acres of FSC-certified timberland and are the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, as well as a major producer of redwood lumber. We employ approximately 950 employees across communities in the Western USA and operate a biomass power plant and a wood pellet plant.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair equipment and rolling stock including trucks, forklifts, frontend loaders, heel booms, pickups, quads, and other vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, and servicing, including tire changes.
  • Review and update maintenance records and schedules.
  • Follow hazardous materials protocols.
  • Operate power tools, jacks, hoists, grinders, welders, and cutting torches; perform cutting, brazing, welding, and fabrication as needed.
  • Work as part of the shop team and maintain cleanliness of the shop area.
  • Adhere to safe work practices at all times.
  • Maintain detailed service and repair records.
  • This position may require local travel up to 25% of the time.

Qualifications

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school.
  • Preferably five years of related experience.
  • Master welding skills including MIG, Stick, Gas Welding, Brazing, and Soldering of Steel and Aluminum.
  • Ability to perform metal fabrication with precise dimensions.
  • Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience rebuilding engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc.
  • Proficiency with diagnosis equipment and software.
  • Ability to interpret safety and operational manuals.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Basic math and computer skills, including MS Office.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stand, walk, handle tools, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate.
  • Frequently climb and balance; occasionally sit and taste or smell.
  • Lift / move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Must have good vision and be exposed to mechanical parts, fumes, weather, and loud environments.
  • Use appropriate PPE including eye and hearing protection, gloves, and hard hats.
