Job description

Brandon School Division is currently accepting applications for a Mechanic.

Purpose of Position

The Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that the BSD School Bus fleet is operating safe and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

Are established by the Supervisor of Transportation within the parameters of the job profile.

Required Qualifications

• Journeyperson Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Automotive Service Technician)


• Requires specific trade/mechanical knowledge with the ability to apply skills to work methods and processes.


• Transport Truck Mechanic.


• Effective basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.


• Effective moderate interpersonal and communication skills.


• WHMIS training/certification (may be completed after hire).


• School Bus Operator Certification (may be completed after hire).

Preferred Qualifications

• Class 2 Driver's License.


• First Aid/CPR Certification.


• Certifications/courses related to anti-lock brakes, auto electrical systems, fuel injectors, etc.


• Valid Manitoba Vehicle Inspection Number for school buses.


• Propane and other alternative fuel training and experience.

Employment will be subject to a Criminal Record Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check completed within the four months preceding the date of application with results satisfactory to the Brandon School Division.
