Job summary

The North East School Division in Tisdale is seeking a Full-Time Permanent Journeyperson Mechanic to provide hands-on maintenance for our fleet of school buses and division vehicles. Duties commence upon mutual agreement, with hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities include servicing gasoline and diesel engines, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting fleet operations. A valid Class 5 license and SGI or ability to obtain certification are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyperson certification or Level 2 Apprenticeship.
• SGI certification for school bus inspections or ability to obtain.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for safe fleet operation.
• Proficiency with computers and diagnostic software used in the division.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Experience with school bus maintenance is an asset.
• Familiarity with fleet management software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair gasoline and diesel school buses and other division vehicles.
• Ensure safety and compliance with fleet regulations and inspections.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics as scheduled.
• Support fleet operations and liaise with transportation services.

Permanent Journeyperson Mechanic - Transportation Services, Tisdale

The North East School Division, a progressive, thriving, community-based school division, is currently seeking a Full-Time Permanent (8 hours/day - 12 month) Journeyperson Mechanic in Tisdale with duties to commence as mutually agreed upon.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Journeyperson Mechanic provides the hands‑on and technical expertise in the maintenance and repair of a variety of gasoline and diesel powered school buses and other school division vehicles.

Qualifications and Skills

• Grade 12 diploma from a provincially recognized institution or equivalent.
• Journeypersonmechanic certification or Level 2 Apprenticeship training.
• Current SGI certification for school bus inspections OR the ability to obtain certification.
• An understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements for the safe operation of both a fleet, and repair facility.
• Proficiency in the operation of computers, word processing, diagnostic applications and additional software used by the school division.
• Valid class 5 Driver's License.
• Experience in the maintenance of school buses would be considered an asset.
• Familiar with fleet management software would be considered an asset.
