Job summary

Sobeys in Calgary, Alberta is hiring a Meat Wrapper to deliver exceptional customer service while handling, wrapping and pricing meat and poultry products in a sanitary, efficient manner.

You will adhere to food safety protocols, maintain clean work areas, assist with stock, and support junior team members in a fast-paced retail environment. Flexible hours and overtime may be required. Physical tasks up to 50 lbs are possible.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a retail food setting.
• Knowledge of food safety protocols and SOPs.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Wrap, package, price, label and date meat and poultry products accurately.
• Provide customer service and meet customer needs.
• Keep work area clean and presentable at all times.
• Rotate products and assist with stock organization per procedures.
• Record information in logs and participate in program execution.
• Prepare deli products and promote merchandise to increase sales.
• Train junior staff and support inventory control.
• Handle department shrink and perform other duties as required.

The Meat Wrapper is responsible for carrying out the full range of duties of the position in a professional, accurate and timely fashion. The Meat Wrapper will deliver exceptional customer service, foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

Here’s where you’ll have an impact:

• Adherence to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies and Health and Safety, and other programs and initiatives
• Provide customer service to meet customer needs
• Accurately wraps, packages, prices, labels, and dates all meat and poultry products in a financially responsible manner
• Keep work area clean and presentable at all times
• Handle, organize, and rotate products in accordance with company standards
• Accurately records information in all appropriate logs
• Perform program execution and merchandising product, following company presentation standards
• Handle and prepare deli products in accordance with company quality standards and food safety protocols
• Increase store sales by actively promoting products
• Participate in the training of junior staff
• Order and receive stock in accordance with company inventory control procedures
• Maintain and prepare meat products for service case, if applicable
• Process department shrink
• Other duties as required
