Job summary

Safeway in Calgary is seeking a Meat Wrapper to perform wrapping, labeling and basic deli preparation while upholding food safety standards. You will deliver friendly service and help meet customer needs in a fast-paced grocery setting.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and flexibility for varied hours. You will work as part of the meat department team, contributing to accurate product handling and shelf presentation.

Responsibilities

• Adherence to Food Safety Protocols, SOPs and Health and Safety.
• Provide customer service to meet customer needs.
• Wrap, package, label and date meat and poultry products.
• Keep work area clean and presentable at all times.
• Handle, rotate and organize products per standards.
• Log information accurately in logs.
• Execute program and merchandising product presentations.
• Prepare deli products per quality standards and safety guidelines.
• Promote products to increase store sales.
• Train junior staff.
• Order and receive stock per inventory procedures.
• Maintain and prepare meat products for service case.
• Process department shrink.
• Other duties as required.

The Meat Wrapper is responsible for carrying out the full range of duties of the position in a professional, accurate and timely fashion. The Meat Wrapper will deliver exceptional customer service, foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

• Adherence to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies and Health and Safety, and other programs and initiatives
• Provide customer service to meet customer needs
• Accurately wraps, packages, prices, labels, and dates all meat and poultry products in a financially responsible manner
• Keep work area clean and presentable at all times
• Handle, organize, and rotate products in accordance with company standards
• Accurately records information in all appropriate logs
• Perform program execution and merchandising product, following company presentation standards
• Handle and prepare deli products in accordance with company quality standards and food safety protocols
• Increase store sales by actively promoting products
• Participate in the training of junior staff
• Order and receive stock in accordance with company inventory control procedures
• Maintain and prepare meat products for service case, if applicable
• Process department shrink
• Other duties as required
