Job summary

Intercity Packers Ltd. is seeking full-time Meat Material Handlers for our Edmonton team to manage raw materials in the Meat Production Department. Shifts include 5:00am-1:30pm or 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with full-time permanent status.

Responsibilities include scanning inputs, loading orders and meat cutters, hauling from cooler to production floor, weighing meat components, and ensuring HACCP/CFIA compliance. Experience with meat production and forklift is a strong asset.

Qualifications

• Experience operating forklift and/or pallet jack is a strong asset.
• Meat production experience is an asset.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have good computer knowledge.
• Must understand food safety guidelines.
• Effective communication and collaboration.
• Handling heavy loads and manual dexterity.
• Combination of sitting, standing, bending, crouching, kneeling and walking for extended periods.
• Attention to detail, decision making and critical thinking skills.
• Exposure to noise, odors, and cold (refrigeration).
• Job task planning, organizing, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Manage input of raw material, ensuring weighing vs case is scanned as requested.
• Update or load orders and meat cutters concurrently (inventory management).
• Haul meat demands from cooler to production floor.
• Maintain corner/coolers and defrost cleanliness per HACCP/CFIA.
• Open meat/products as needed.
• Weigh fat, trim, and steak pieces using TI station.
• Assist production team when needed for portioning.
• Rack/thaw meat as needed.
• Pack and label materials as needed.
• Load defrost room/cooler/racking as needed.
• Rotate loading/scanning of raw materials as needed.
• Collaborate with team to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Plan and execute production to meet regulatory and SQF requirements.
• Operate equipment per expectations.
• Meet with supervisor daily.
• Report deviations and personnel issues to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as required.
