Job summary

Halton Healthcare’s Milton site seeks a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to ensure safe, compliant reprocessing of items across the organization. You will follow CSA, PIDAC, MDRAO and Health Canada guidelines while supporting client needs and workflow efficiency.

The ideal candidate brings an MDR certification, at least one year of experience, strong English communication, and the ability to work rotating shifts in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Medical Device Reprocessing or CSA Certification required.
• Ongoing CSA Recertification to be maintained.
• 1 year relevant MDR experience preferred.
• Experience with reprocessing equipment (washer disinfectors, steam and low temp sterilizers).
• Endoscope reprocessing experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication in English—oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Ensure MDRT provides reprocessed items per CSA, PIDAC, MDRAO and Health Canada guidelines.
• Communicate with clients to meet reprocessing needs in a timely and efficient manner.

Job Description

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Medical Device Reprocessing Department provides reprocessed items to patients and clients throughout the organization in a manner that adheres to guidelines and standards set by organizations such as CSA (Canadian Standards Association), PIDAC (Provincial Infections Diseases Advisory Committee), MDRAO (Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario) and Health Canada. The MDRT is also responsible for effectively communicating with the clients in the workplace in order to ensure all their reprocessing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications

• Current certificate from a recognized college level Medical Device Reprocessing Course or CSA Medical Device Reprocessing Certification required; combination of in-class and apprenticeship hours preferred.
• Ongoing CSA Recertification requirements to be maintained by applicant
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
• 1 year relevant experience in Medical Device Reprocessing
• Demonstrated experience using reprocessing equipment. For example, washer disinfectors, steam sterilizers, low temperature sterilizers
• Reprocessing of flexible endoscope experience is an asset
• Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Aptitude for working with delicate and heavy equipment
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
• Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
• Must be comfortable working alone if the situation occurs.

Additional Information

Hours:Monday - Sunday, various rotating 7.5 hour shifts; 0700-1500, 0900-1700, 1000-1800, 1200-2000(Hours subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary:$31.060 - $31.700 per hour
