Job description

Position Overview:

At Beacon College Prep, we believe every scholar deserves access to rigorous, joyful, and data-driven instruction that leads to academic mastery. The Math Interventionist plays a critical role in accelerating reading outcomes for scholars who require additional support. This role is responsible for delivering targeted, high-quality math intervention aligned to Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports, grounded in data, and tightly connected to core instruction. The Academic Interventionist ensures scholars build strong foundational reading skills – including phonics, fluency, and comprehension – to reach and exceed grade-level expectations.

In alignment with Beacon’s strategic priority to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, this role also works collaboratively with instructional leaders and teachers to reinforce core literacy practices and reduce long-term reliance on intervention. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Targeted Math Intervention
  • Deliver daily small-group and individualized math intervention aligned to scholar needs
  • Implement structured, research-based strategies aligned to Beacon’s instructional approach
  • Plan and execute intervention cycles with clear goals, progress monitoring, and adjustments based on data.
  • Provide high-dosage, high-impact instruction that accelerates scholar growth toward grade-level proficiency.
Data-Driven Instruction & Progress Monitoring
  • Analyze assessment data to identify skill gaps and group scholars effectively.
  • Progress monitor scholars regularly and adjust instruction in real time to ensure growth.
  • Maintain accurate and organized intervention data, trackers, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the scholar support team and instructional leaders to ensure fidelity of RTI² implementation.
Alignment to Core Instruction (Tier 1)
  • Collaborate with teachers and instructional leaders to ensure intervention is aligned—not siloed—from Tier 1 instruction.
  • Reinforce key standards, skills, and content from core curriculum during intervention blocks.
  • Support teachers in identifying high-leverage instructional moves to reduce future intervention needs.
Scholar Support & Culture
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with scholars to foster confidence, engagement, and ownership of learning.
  • Create a learning environment that is structured, rigorous, and joyful, with clear routines and high expectations.
  • Reinforce Beacon’s school-wide culture systems, including behavior expectations and transitions.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
  • Participate actively in weekly coaching, PLCs, and professional development, implementing feedback with urgency.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Scholar Support (DOSS), Co-Principals, and teachers to ensure cohesive scholar support plans.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding scholar progress, strategies, and next steps.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Tennessee Teaching License required; candidates without licensure must demonstrate significant experience in literacy instruction and a commitment to obtaining licensure
  • Two years of teaching experience
  • Strong background in early literacy and/or reading intervention
  • Experience with data-driven instruction and progress monitoring tools
  • Demonstrated ability to accelerate student achievement in a small-group setting
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to Beacon’s mission and belief in all scholars’ ability to achieve at high levels
Salary & Benefits:
