Job summary

Imperial Oil invites engineering students to join its Materials Integrity/Machinery internship in Calgary. You will work with experienced professionals on projects that analyze inspection data, improve piping and equipment integrity, and recommend cost-effective materials to prevent failures.

The role runs for 12 or 16 months with start dates in January or May 2027. Applicants should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Materials engineering and be returning to full-time

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Materials ideal.
• University student available for a January or May 2027 work term.
• Currently enrolled and returning to full-time studies after term.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong academic performance.
• Motivated, enthusiastic, and collaborative with a results-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Review critical process data and effects on equipment/piping.
• Develop mitigation plans to minimize corrosion.
• Manage or create corrosion control programs.
• Review novel materials with Materials experts for viability.
• Identify degradation modes for risk assessment and RBI strategy.
