Job summary

Imperial invites engineering students to apply for January or May 2027 student/co-op opportunities in Upstream Materials Integrity/Machinery Engineering. You will work under mentorship, contribute to projects, and gain hands-on experience alongside professionals in a multidisciplinary setting.

The program runs for 12 or 16 months, starting January or May 2027, in Calgary. Strong English communication, leadership, and a solid academic record are essential, with transcripts required at submission.

Qualifications

  • Studying to achieve a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering - Role best suited for Mechanical or Materials programs.
  • University student available for a work term beginning in January or May 2027
  • Currently enrolled in a university program and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, results-oriented individuals who are energized by working with people and by achieving superior results
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for the role
  • Commitment to safety on and off the job
  • Most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application

Responsibilities

  • You’ll work within one of our organizations for the duration of your internship working alongside experienced professionals, receive coaching and mentorship, and contributing to projects that drive real results and add value to the business.
  • Through hands-on experiences, you’ll strengthen your professional capabilities while gaining a deeper understanding of industry operations.
  • You’ll gain exposure to the day-to-day work of full-time engineers, scientists, and experienced professionals giving you a sense of what a career at Imperial looks like.
