Job summary

Randstad Canada in Exeter, Ontario seeks a Material Handler - forklift operator for an afternoon shift in a manufacturing setting. You will operate a combi forklift and assist with loading trucks, crate construction, and packaging tasks on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience as a General Labourer or in a related manufacturing role is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Experience on a combi style forklift and overhead crane is a bonus.
• Help senior loaders load trucks by placing wood blocks between the skids.
• Pick trim or small parts for truckloads (e.g., screws, closures).
• Close crates of finished products using a nail gun.
• Wrap finished trim using the wrapping machine or crates for larger bundles.
• Help build crates using nail guns or saws.
• Assist a press brake operator with handling products for bending.
• Check racks to ensure products for next-day deliveries are ready.
• Monitor outgoing product quality and report QC issues.
• Lift 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.
• Be flexible across departments as needed.
• Follow safe working procedures and wear safety gear at all times.
• Maintain clean work areas and end-of-day housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Experience on a combi style forklift and overhead crane is a bonus
• Helping the senior loaders load trucks by placing wood blocks between the skids
• Picking trim or small parts for the truckloads (ex. Screws, closures, etc.)
• Closing in the crates of finished product using a nail gun
• Wrapping finished trim using the cardboard wrapping machine or by putting larger bundles of product into crates
• Helping to build crates which would involve the use of nail guns or saws
• Might help a press brake operator by assisting them with handling the product and putting the product into the machine in order to bend it properly
• Checking the racks to ensure that product for the next day deliveries has not been missed
• Looking at the quality of outgoing product and notifying a supervisor if any QC issues are noticed
• Lift 50 lbs.
• Stand and walk for continuous periods of time throughout the shift
• Willing to be flexible in duties and support multiple departments
• Adhere to established safe working procedures and wear the proper safety equipment at all times;
• Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency;
• Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day;
