POSITION SUMMARY

In this position, you will be responsible for assisting the supervisor/manager in ensuring the smooth operation of the warehouse activities, managing staff and maintaining safety and efficiency as well as carrying out the normal duties of the stockkeeper classification. Retrieving, packing, and preparing customer orders by selecting items from shelves, verifying quantities and quality, and staging them for shipment or delivery. Manage inventory by receiving, organizing, tracking, and distributing stock, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and maintaining a safe, clean storage area. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and often involves operating warehouse equipment like forklifts and using handheld scanners for inventory management.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Order Fulfillment: Locate, pick, and retrieve specific products and quantities from warehouse shelves according to customer orders or pick lists.
  • Packing & Shipping: Securely pack picked items into appropriate boxes or containers, label them correctly, and prepare them for dispatch or loading onto delivery vehicles.
  • Receiving & Inspection: Unpack shipments, verify items against purchase orders, and inspect for damage or discrepancies, reporting any issues to management.
  • Quality Control: Inspect items for quality, damage, or defects.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operated warehouse machinery such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Organize, label, and store stock in designated areas, often following the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method, to ensure accessibility and prevent spoilage. Maintain accurate inventory by conducting regular counts, recording stock movements, and updating inventory records using scanners or paperwork.
  • Communication & Reporting: Process necessary paperwork, maintain records of completed orders, and communicate with other warehouse team members or supervisors.
  • Stock Auditing: Conduct regular physical checks and inventory audits to reconcile physical stock with records and identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Previous experience in inventory management or stockkeeping within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Crucial for selecting the correct items and quantities and ensuring the accuracy of outgoing orders.
  • Physical Fitness and Stamina: A good level of fitness is often required for tasks like lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods.
  • Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to meet daily production and shipping goals.
  • Efficiency and Speed: Thriving in a fast-paced environment to process orders / receiving quickly and accurately.
  • Safety Consciousness: Adherence to all safety procedures and guidelines while working with machinery and in a warehouse setting.
  • Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with inventory management software.
  • Problem-Solving: To identify and resolve inventory discrepancies and other issues.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a warehouse team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
