This Opportunity

Smith + Andersen is looking for a Marketing Communications Specialist to join its Marketing & Communications team based in our Toronto office.

Supporting offices across Canada and with responsibilities spanning the marketing process, the role touches a variety of marketing communications deliverables. The role reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. You are a marketing communications generalist, with writing as a particular strength. You are detail- and task-oriented, able to execute to high standards of turnaround time and quality. You are a self-starter who can own projects from start to finish.

What You’ll Do

  • Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with key staff across the country.
  • Ensure all Marketing and Communications are aligned with the Writing Style Guide and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Lead the project profile process, including interviewing subject matter experts, writing copy within established word counts, formatting within established templates, and coordinating photography.
  • Provide writing and design support for proposal submissions and presentations.
  • Create content for the boilerplate library, contributing write-ups based on conversations with Subject Matter Experts, and editing existing content as required.
  • Create content for social media channels.
  • Coordinate and provide written content for ongoing communications initiatives, including producing content for e-blasts, "how to" documents, and newsletters.
  • Coordinate the organization of external communications pieces, including advertisements, brochures, flyers, and web pages.
  • Work with the marketing and communications team members to provide recommendations for marketing and communications alternatives, enhancements, and solutions.
  • Oversee and contribute to the calendar of customer brand events and sponsorships, maintaining an awareness of industry events in each region and coordinating speaking engagements.
  • Assist Marketing Coordinator as appropriate in planning client events at each office, providing guidance to the team and internal clients.
  • Maintain a calendar of industry awards and lead the submission process.
  • Oversee all customer brand projects in project management software, ensuring completion of projects to expected quality and completion time.

Who You Are :

  • Three to five years of experience in marketing or communications.
  • University or College degree or diploma in communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Ability to create coherent written communication.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including multi-tasking, time management, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, professional, trustworthy, and diplomatic manner.
  • A curious, never-quite-satisfied mindset, with an eye on continuous improvement both for yourself and your deliverables.
  • Experience with marketing email platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.).
  • Experience with layout programs (InDesign, Publisher, etc.).
  • Experience with project management software (Asana, Zoho, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience in the AEC industries is an asset.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products is an asset.
  • Experience with website CMS (WordPress, Drupal, etc.) is an asset.
  • Experience with SharePoint 365 is an asset.
