Job summary

HUNGRY in Ottawa is seeking an Operations Manager to own catering, delivery, and event operations in the market. You will coordinate a network of Captains (independent contractors) and lead hub readiness, procurement, and safety compliance to ensure flawless client experiences.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years in an operations role in catering, food service, hospitality, or logistics.
• Experience directly managing employees, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience planning and coordinating a contractor-based or gig workforce and navigating contractor relations.
• Hands-on experience with live event execution and logistics management.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to lift, move, and transport catering equipment and supplies as needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day catering, delivery, and event operations in the market.
• Plan and coordinate Captains, assigning gigs and managing logistics for on-time execution.
• Recruit, onboard, and train Captains and connect them with safety training.
• Partner with Sales and Food Partner Management to ensure smooth handoffs from booking to execution.
• Oversee hub readiness, inventory, and contractor flow with cleanliness and organization.
• Build logistics plans, scheduling coverage, and inventory for daily and event ops.
• Manage vendor relationships supporting daily hub and delivery operations.
• Monitor service quality in real time and proactively address operational risks.
• Report market-level metrics to the National Director of Operations.
• Maintain compliance with food safety and workplace safety standards.
