Job summary

Brock University is seeking a part-time Marker-Grader in the Department of Accounting to support assessment activities for MPAC 5P30 courses. The role requires marking assignments, providing constructive feedback, and possibly invigilating exams in accordance with the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Must have MPAC 5P30 (or equivalent in English) with a grade of 80% or higher
• Graduate of or major in Accounting with a minimum major average of 75%
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
• Proven track record of meeting deadlines
• Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and provide written feedback clearly identifying the basis of the grade
• May invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases at the course instructor's request

Course Description

Principles and theories of auditing; ethical, legal and professional responsibilities of the auditor; nature of verification, audit evidence, testing, the elements of effective control structures, the use of statistical sampling and evolution of external, internal and comprehensive auditing; application of professional judgment and integration of auditing across the organization.

Compensation

Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.

• Master's Degree Complete ($36.00/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a master's degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
• Undergraduate Degree Complete ($31.04/hour) Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
• Third Year Complete ($22.91/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
• Second Year Complete ($20.15/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
• First Year Complete ($19.00/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the first year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.

The marker-grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and must be prepared to provide written feedback to students that will clearly identify the basis of the grade assigned; whether it is due to substantive content, or to written communications, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization of the submission.

The marker-grader may be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course, or enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.

• - Must have completed MPAC 5P30 (or equivalent in English) and attained a grade of 80% or higher
• - Graduate of or Major in Accounting with a minimum major average of 75%
• - Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
• - Proven track record of working effectively with deadlines
• - Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset
