Job summary

Brock University is seeking part-time instructor/marker-grader positions to assess course work and provide individualized feedback to students. Roles include marking assignments and potentially invigilating exams, with compensation tied to degree level.

Available pay rates range by education level, from undergraduate degree holders at $19.00/hour to master's degree holders at $36.00/hour, effective Sept 1, 2026. These positions align with the Collective Agreement and course enrolments.

Qualifications

• Must have completed ITIS 1P97 (or equivalent in English) and attained a grade of 80% or higher.
• Graduate of or Major in Accounting with a minimum major average of 75%.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven track record of meeting deadlines.
• Previous Marker/Grader experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and provide written feedback identifying the basis of the grade.
• May invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases as requested by the course instructor.

Compensation

• Master's Degree Complete ($36.00/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a master's degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
• Undergraduate Degree Complete ($31.04/hour) Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
• Third Year Complete ($22.91/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
• Second Year Complete ($20.15/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)
• First Year Complete ($19.00/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the first year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)

Due to limited hours available not all positions may move beyond the posting stage.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The marker-grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and must be prepared to provide written feedback to students that will clearly identify the basis of the grade assigned; whether it is due to substantive content, or to written communications, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization of the submission. The marker-grader may be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course, or enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.

• Proven track record of working effectively with deadlines
• Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset
