Course Description

Technical and planning issues related to structures for conducting business and investment activities for both individuals and corporate entities. Focus on various ownership categories, types of business operations and funding issues. Investigation of partnerships and trusts as part of a business or investment portfolio structure. Application of tax issues when making business and investment decisions.

Compensation

• Master's Degree Complete ($36.00/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a master's degree. (Rate effective September1,2026)
• Undergraduate Degree Complete ($31.04/hour) Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree. (Rate effective September1,2026)
• Third Year Complete ($22.91/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September1,2026)
• Second Year Complete ($20.15/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree. (Rate effective September1,2026)
• First Year Complete ($19.00/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the first year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September1,2026)

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article22 of the Collective Agreement.

The marker‑grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and must be prepared to provide written feedback to students that will clearly identify the basis of the grade assigned; whether it is due to substantive content, or to written communications, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization of the submission.

The marker‑grader may be expected to invigilate mid‑terms and examinations for this course, or enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.

Qualifications

• Must have completed MACC5P41 (or equivalent in English) and attained a grade of 80% or higher
• Graduate of or Major in Accounting with a minimum major average of 75%
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
• Proven track record of working effectively with deadlines
• Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset
