Johnson Electric in Ancaster, ON is seeking a Manufacturing Technician – Finishing to optimize finishing and machining processes, enhance throughput, reliability, and quality. You will leverage CNC programming, robotics, tooling, and troubleshooting to reduce downtime and drive continuous improvement across operations.

You’ll participate in preventive maintenance and TPM while collaborating with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to grow within a global organization.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or technical degree in mechanical/manufacturing tech.
  • 5–7 years in high-speed automotive manufacturing preferred.
  • Advanced CNC programming with Fanuc/Okuma/Siemens controls.
  • Strong blueprint-reading and GD&T understanding.
  • Experience with precision metrology and CMM reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Improve throughput by monitoring and optimizing processes.
  • Document changes to setpoints, programs, and parameters.
  • Reduce downtime with preventive maintenance and TPM initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot robotics and automation systems (Fanuc, Motoman, KUKA).
  • Support CNC machines, lathes, mills, and grinders in daily ops.
  • Audit blueprints, GD&T, and CMM data for conformity.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects in manufacturing.

Your expertise in CNC programming, automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, tooling, and process troubleshooting will be crucial in reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement across our operations.Why You’ll Love Working Here:Work with advanced CNC machining, grinding, heat-treatment, robotics, and automated inspection systemsPlay a key role in improving equipment reliability, throughput, and product qualityCollaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teamsApply your technical expertise to complex process and equipment challengesParticipate in preventive maintenance, TPM, and continuous improvement initiativesGrow your career within a global manufacturing organizationWhat You’ll Be Doing:Improve operational throughput by monitoring and optimizing manufacturing processesDocument changes to machine setpoints, programs, and operating parametersReduce downtime by executing preventive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance activitiesIdentify nonstandard operating conditions and recommend resolution options to Production Supervisors and Team LeadersOptimize the use of tooling, labor, materials, and energy to reduce operating expensesSet up, maintain, and troubleshoot fixtures and tooling for CNC lathes, vertical machining centers, and grinding machinesSupport special-purpose equipment, including induction heat-treatment cells, CNC grinders, deburring machines, washers, and automated nondestructive testing cellsTroubleshoot industrial automation and robotic systems, including Fanuc, Motoman, and KUKA equipmentProgram, operate, and troubleshoot Fanuc, Siemens, and Okuma CNC control systemsSupport machining equipment such as Shimada and EMAG lathes and SW machining centersProvide technical troubleshooting and repair support to minimize equipment downtimeImprove machine maintainability, reliability, and overall operational performanceEnsure operational quality and efficiency targets are consistently achievedVerify that appropriate safety controls and requirements are implemented on each machineReview blueprints, GD&T requirements, measurement results, and CMM reports to ensure product conformityApply structured problem-solving techniques, including the 5 Whys, to identify and resolve equipment and process issuesTrain and provide technical guidance to other team membersMaintain accurate equipment documentation and record retentionParticipate in continuous improvement initiativesEnsure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and all applicable Quality, Safety, and Environmental requirementsPerform other related duties as assignedWhat We’re Looking For:Diploma as a Mechanical Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineering Technician, or an equivalent combination of education and experiencePostsecondary certificate in CNC Programming or equivalent practical experience preferredFive to seven years of experience in a high-speed automotive manufacturing environment preferredAdvanced experience programming and operating CNC machines using Fanuc, Okuma, and Siemens control systemsFamiliarity with Fanuc, Motoman, and KUKA robotics, including programming and troubleshootingStrong experience with CNC lathes, vertical machining centers, grinding machines, and automated production equipmentExcellent blueprint-reading skills, including a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancingAbility to use precision measurement equipment, inspect parts against engineering drawings, and interpret CMM reportsUnderstanding of automotive quality systems and IATF 16949 requirementsStrong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skillsEffective written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levelsHigh integrity, dependability, urgency, and results orientationAbility to work rotating shifts and overtime as requiredAbility to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment with limited climate controlBonus Points If You Have:Advanced CNC programming expertise across multiple machine platformsExperience with induction heat treatment, CNC grinding, deburring, washing, or automated nondestructive testing systemsExperience improving machine reliability and maintainabilityKnowledge of preventive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance methodologiesExperience leading technical training or supporting the development of production team membersProven success implementing continuous improvement projects in automotive manufacturingHow to ApplyApply online at www.johnsonelectric.com.
