Engineering Tech 2 is an essential intermediate position within Creation Technologies, tasked with handling moderately complex industrial engineering activities. This role is a stepping stone for professionals looking to deepen their engineering technical expertise, offering a blend of hands-on experience and involvement in improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include identification and implementation of process improvement opportunities. This role supports technical activities under the guidance of the engineering team. This position demands a proactive approach, technical proficiency, and a commitment to continuous learning and teamwork.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:
Engages in the creation, development and readiness of industrial engineering processes, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards and ergonomics.
Handles intermediate engineering tasks and escalates issues as necessary, ensuring compliance with quality standards and that products meet customer required specifications and standards.
Tackles complex problems independently, proposing feasible solutions within defined parameters and effectively communicate them to appropriate stakeholders , including operations.
Demonstrates intermediate knowledge in industrial engineering practices, solving typical problems with innovative solutions, especially for line-streaming processes.
Contributes to the development & maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensures compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, sharing insights and contributing to decision-making.
Orders NRE items (stencils, wave pallets, fixtures, test supplies etc.) as per Creation procedures.
Participates in the development and review of process documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with company defined and industry standards.
Provides technical support and guidance to junior technicians, enhancing team skills and productivity.
Facilitates training sessions for production trainers on new processes, technologies, and equipment, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Implements and optimizes production processes, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to best practices.
Manufacturing Engineering Tech Specific:
Executes intermediate MFG engineering tasks and activities under the direction of Manufacturing Engineering team.
Has working knowledge and ability to work with PLM and MES systems.
Engages in detailed manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions, as received from customer, and prepped for release to production floor.
Creates Assembly documents, Bill of Process and SMT/AOI Machine files (use of CAM350, Factory Logix, or other MES and CAD/CAM software).
Generate, control, and distribute basic and intermediate level manufacturing process documentation including Process Plans and Procurement specifications.
Creates, supports C odesoft label specifications
Follow up deviations, and change impact assessment
Follow up supplier change requests
Develop and maintain time study analyses
Attend and solving product receiving issues (from incoming area)
Engages in engineering projects and initiatives, coordinating tasks and resources to meet project timelines and specifications.
Keep test times and end-to-end process times updated for accuracy and efficiency.
Maintain the capacity matrix monthly, aligned with current and forecasted demand.
Identify any process centers exceeding installed capacity and report capacity constraints.
Regularly update the plant layout to reflect current operations and equipment locations.
Collaborate on layout improvement proposals and actively participate in site-wide optimization initiatives.
Support continuous improvement activities by providing data and technical input on process flows and plant layout.
Monitors and update ME Team key performance indicators ( KPIs)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Required Experience
College Diploma (2 - Year program ), with relevant coursework in electronics and manufacturing processes or equivalent industry and/or military experience
Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or technical environment.
Skills Required
Advanced understanding of electronics manufacturing and troubleshooting.
Knowledgeable about IPC 610 Standard and/or J-STD-001 .
Proficiency in interpreting technical documents and specifications.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective oral and written English communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Leadership qualities and the ability to mentor junior technicians or interns.
Effective understanding of Lean principles, six sigma and industrial ergonomics preferred .
Familiar with PLM, MES, and CMMS systems.
Proficient in using Computer systems and knowledge of CAD/CAM and programming preferred .
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is $63,000 in our Canadian location; a shift differential may also be provided depending on the work hours. Full-time employees are also eligible for performance-based bonuses and benefits. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, location, and shift.
