Job summary

IEM is seeking an EHS Specialist for our Surrey, BC location to provide regulatory compliance and risk management support for a manufacturing facility. The role focuses on proactive hazard identification and robust mitigation strategies, fostering a culture of accountability and care across the organization.

The position emphasizes in-office presence with responsibilities including safety culture, incident investigations, training documentation, and reporting aligned with EHS training matrices.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial or electrical environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local EHS regulations including WorkSafeBC, Canada Labour Code, and environmental permitting requirements.
• Complete risk assessments, audits, and inspections, draft reports of findings including proactive identification of hazards and implementation of robust mitigation strategies.
• Identifying improvement opportunities for EHS programs; develop actionable plans that are effectively managed to completion.
