Job summary

Patriot Forge Corporation in Canada is seeking a Machinist to set up and operate manual equipment to forge components per specifications. You will read blueprints, apply metrology, and handle overhead cranes and forklifts on a daily basis.

The role requires a high school diploma, with post-secondary machinist education considered an asset. Strong English, teamwork, and safety awareness are essential. Excellent benefits and development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary machinist education is a plus.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment and a Certificate of Qualification is assets.
  • Solid understanding of machining principles is essential.
  • Experience with setup and operation of manual equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, speeds and feeds is an asset.
  • Good command of English, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual equipment to machine forgings.
  • Machine product to specifications per shop orders, drawings, or directions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Apply metrology knowledge as necessary.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling.
  • Maintain equipment with routine lubrication and coolant checks.
  • Maintain safe, clean work area and follow health and safety policies.
  • Assist and support fellow employees as required.

Overview of Position:

Set up and operate manual equipment to machine forgings to required specifications

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate manual equipment
  • Machine product to specified requirements as defined within production shop orders, drawings and sketches or as directed by the management of Patriot Forge
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Apply metrology knowledge and experience as necessary
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling of large products
  • Maintain equipment in safe and productive condition, including but not limited to, regular routine lubrication, cleaning, and maintaining coolant levels
  • Practice excellent general housekeeping, including but not limited to, his/her work area, chip removal, floor areas, benches, storage areas to ensure a safe work environment
  • Shovel chips generated by machinery; grind parts and assist and support fellow employees in their duties, when/as required
  • Maintain proper working condition of measuring instruments by regular cleaning. Store instruments in a safe location both during use and after completion of use
  • Comply with H&S management program and policies
Experience:
  • High school diploma is required and post-secondary machinist related education is an asset
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and a Certificate of Qualification are assets
  • A good understanding of machining principles is essential
  • Previous experience with the setup and operation of manual equipment is preferred
  • Good knowledge of cutting tools as well as speeds and feeds an asset
  • Good command of the English language both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with material handling equipment (overhead cranes and forklifts) and the safe handling of large objects
  • Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
