Patriot Forge Corporation is the largest custom open-die forging company in Canada, offering apprenticeship programs and on-the-job training. As a CNC Machinist, you will set up and operate CNC machinery to forgeings to spec and interpret blueprints.

We value safety, teamwork, and precision. Candidates should have CNC experience, a high school diploma, and a willingness to work shifts on rotating schedule in Brantford, Ontario.

Qualifications

Certificate of Qualification is an asset.
High school diploma required.
Experience with set up and operation of CNC equipment is required.
G code programming at machine-tool.
Good understanding of machining principles is essential.
Knowledge of cutting tools, speeds and feeds is an asset.
Simple trigonometry calculations.
Good command of English, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC equipment using CNC controls.
Calibrate tools and tool offsets.
Program CNC machines at the control for basic workpieces.
Machine product to specified requirements from shop orders, drawings, or management direction.
Interpret blueprints and specifications.
Demonstrate metrology knowledge as necessary.
Operate overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling of large product.
Maintain equipment in safe, productive condition and ensure housekeeping for a safe work environment.
Shovel chips, grind parts and assist colleagues as required.
Maintain measuring instruments in proper working condition.

Overview of Position:

Set up and operate various CNC machinery to machine forgings to required specifications

Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC equipment using CNC controls
Calibrate tools and tool offsets
Program CNC machines at the control for basic workpieces
Machine product to specified requirements as defined within production shop orders, drawings and sketches or as directed by the management of Patriot Forge
Demonstrate Metrology knowledge and experience as necessary
Operate overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling of large product
Maintain equipment in safe and productive condition, including but not limited to, regular routine lubrication, cleaning, maintaining coolant levels
Practice excellent general housekeeping, including but not limited to, his/her work area, chip removal, floor areas, benches, storage areas to ensure a safe work environment
Shovel chips generated by machinery, grind parts and assist and support fellow employees in their duties, when/as required
Maintain measuring instruments in proper working condition by regular cleaning and storing instruments in a safe location both during use and after completion of use
Comply with H&S management program and policies

Experience:

A Certificate of Qualification is an asset
High school diploma required
Previous experience with the set up and operation of CNC equipment is required
Manual “G” code programming at machine-tool
A good understanding of machining principles is essential
Good knowledge of cutting tools as well as speeds and feeds an asset
Simple trigonometry calculations required
Good command of the English language both written and verbal
Familiarity with material handling equipment (overhead cranes and forklifts) and the safe handling of large objects
Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
