Job summary

Patriot Forge Corporation in Canada is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician to support the Maintenance department with hands-on electrical tasks and reliability improvements. You will diagnose and repair electrical systems, install wiring, test circuits, follow safety codes, and document maintenance work.

Strong knowledge of electrical theory, tools, and PLC/VFD concepts is expected; English communication is required.

Qualifications

Interprovincial QC preferred.
Must have own maintenance tools.
Good command of English written and spoken.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Perform building maintenance and repair tasks.
Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring and fixtures.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems and locate breakdown causes.
Inspect for hazards and ensure code compliance.
Test circuits with meters and ensure safety.
Plan layouts per job specs and local codes.

Overview of Position:

To work with the Maintenance department in completing work as needed, with special skills and knowledge related to electrical work

Responsibilities:

Perform tasks in regards to building maintenance and repair
Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures using hand tools and power tools
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
Connect wires to circuit protection devices, transformers, or other components
Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes
Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
Test electrical system and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and insulation testers to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
Maintain job log to meet Electrical Safety Authority standards
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
Install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures
Prepare sketches, or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
Operate a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools and testing equipment, including ammeters and test lamps
Troubleshooting variable frequency drives and programmable logic controllers
Preventative maintenance duties on electrical equipment, thermal scanning, insulation testing, and current readings
Calibration of electrical/electronic systems
Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors
Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
Comply with H&S management program and policies

Experience:

Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification will be given preference
Provincial Certificate of Qualification minimum
Technical Standards and Safety Authority Industrial Maintenance Technician considered an asset
Must have own maintenance tools
Good command of the English language both written and verbal
Demonstrated communication, problem solving interpersonal and analytical skills
