Job summary

Janox Fluid Power Ltd., a division of Boundary Mining Group, seeks a Machinist to manufacture parts for hydraulic systems used in heavy industry. The role involves reading engineering drawings, machining to tight tolerances, and assembling hydraulic cylinders and power units.

You will work in a general manufacturing shop focused on hydraulic units, with potential out-of-town travel and overtime as required. Strong attention to detail and reliability are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Machinist trade certification and Red Seal is an asset.
• Experience with large manual lathes, vertical milling machines, radial arm drills, and a variety of other hand and power tools.
• Mechanical aptitude is an asset; mechanical hobbies or work experience are a plus.
• Experience with gauges, micrometers, and verniers.

Responsibilities

• Manual machining (lathe, mill, radial arm drill) with DRO.
• Repair and re-machining of hydraulic components.
• Assembly of hydraulic cylinders and power units.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
• Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance.
• Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
• Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
• Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers and calipers).
• Measure and layout workpieces.
• Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.

Job Description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Machinist manufactures various parts for Janox, a leader in the fluid power industry specializing in design, manufacturing, and installation of large hydraulic systems, large hydraulic cylinders, and the repair and testing of a wide variety of hydraulic components.

Key Responsibilities

• Manual machining (lathe, mill, radial arm drill) with DRO.
• Repair and re‑machining of hydraulic components.
• Assembly of hydraulic cylinders and power units.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
• Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance.
