Job summary

United Gear & Machine Works Ltd., a division of Boundary Mining Group, is seeking a Millwright to install, repair, troubleshoot, and test gearboxes in our heavy machinery shop and on client sites.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will read engineering drawings, perform refurbishments, mentor junior staff, and ensure quality workmanship while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate of qualification (red seal) as a Millwright, Machinist, or Heavy Duty Mechanic, or indentured 2nd year apprentice.
• 3+ years of technician experience in a machine shop.
• Fundamental understanding of repair and testing of gearboxes.
• Reading and understanding engineering drawings/schematics.
• Power unit fabrication, tube/piping installation, welding and machining.

Responsibilities

• Refurbishment and installation of gearboxes and equipment.
• Teardown, inspection, troubleshooting, and testing of gearboxes.
• Key site contact between client and office.
• Mentoring of junior technician staff.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Millwright is responsible for installing, repairing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and testing of gearboxes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Refurbishment and installation of gearboxes and equipment.
• Teardown, inspection, troubleshooting, and testing of gearboxes.
• Key site contact between client and office.
• Mentoring of junior technician staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A certificate of qualification (red seal) as a Millwright, Machinist, or Heavy Duty Mechanic, or an indentured 2nd year apprentice in these same trades
• 3+ years of technician experience working in a machine shop.
• Fundamental understanding of the repair and testing of gearboxes.
• Experience in system troubleshooting, system fabrication.
• Understanding of industrial controls, sensors, switches, relays, etc.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics.
• Understanding of power unit fabrication, tube/piping installation, welding and machining.
