Job description

YVR is a place of connection, bringing together people, places and cargo while ensuring a safe and efficient experience for everyone. As part of our Innovation and Technology Group, your work will help deliver industry-leading travel technology to transform the passenger experience. From strategic planning to project execution, the work you do matters and will help improve our processes to make our airport work better for our communities.

Position overview

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for an innovative and collaborative Manager, Technology Services (AI & Digital Governance).

Reporting to the Director, Data & AI, the Manager leads the responsible adoption and ongoing use of AI and digital tools across YVR. The role translates governance requirements into practical guardrails and controls, including permitted data use, access controls, approval processes, usage monitoring and cost management. Drawing on a strong understanding of digital tools and their capabilities, the Manager oversees the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of these controls, while leading change management, user enablement and related budgets to support safe, effective and financially sustainable use.

Leading a team of Business Analysts, Technical Analysts, and Senior Technical Analysts, the Manager sets priorities, guides service delivery, and drives continuous improvement while supporting team development and building strong partnerships across the organization. The role also coordinates practical, risk-based governance for AI and emerging digital tools, working with Data & AI, Privacy, Cybersecurity, and other relevant partners to support responsible adoption while maintaining established operational and technical accountabilities.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead day-to-day IT operations and service delivery, supporting the team in setting priorities, managing workloads, and resolving issues while building more proactive and reliable ways of working. Provide after-hours on-call support as required.
  • Manage software, hardware, and telecommunications budgets, ensuring resources are used effectively to meet operational and project needs.
  • Oversee IT projects from planning through implementation, ensuring they align with organizational priorities and are delivered on time and within budget. Incorporate appropriate AI and digital governance requirements into project planning and delivery, and escalated significant risks when needed.
  • Support the growth and development of team members through coaching, mentoring, training, and performance management, while overseeing the administrative responsibilities of the team.
  • Maintain and improve IT service delivery processes and performance measures, tracking service results, governance adoption, approved exceptions, follow-up actions, and the effectiveness of controls for AI and emerging digital tools.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to support IT projects and day-to-day service delivery, ensuring teams have the capacity and support needed to meet priorities.
  • Oversee the team's IT project portfolio and work closely with other teams and partners, including Data and AI, Legal, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Data Governance, platform owners, and business stakeholders, to keep initiatives aligned, clarify responsibilities, and support appropriate governance and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Key qualifications include:
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience leading and directing teams.
  • Experience in the implementation, adoption and ongoing management of AI and digital tools, with responsibility for implementing governance controls, overseeing service delivery and technology projects, managing budgets, and leading change management.
  • Strong knowledge of IT service management principles and practices, including ITIL or equivalent frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of responsible AI, digital governance, privacy, cybersecurity, and data governance, including the development and implementation of policies, standards, and controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess risks, solve complex problems, lead cross-functional initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and influence senior leaders and executives.
  • Relevant technical certifications and familiarity with recognized AI governance frameworks are considered assets.
