Suncor Energy Inc. is seeking a Manager of Tax Compliance in Calgary to lead a senior team and shape Canadian tax strategy.

This role focuses on governance, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure robust tax compliance and reporting. The ideal candidate brings 10–15+ years of corporate taxation, CPA credentials, and deep knowledge of Canadian tax rules, with exposure to US and international taxation.

Qualifications

  • 10 to 15+ years of progressive experience in corporate taxation.
  • CPA designation required, with completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program.
  • Deep knowledge of Canadian Income Tax legislation, tax compliance, and tax reporting requirements.
  • Exposure to U.S. and international taxation is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of tax professionals.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Support the preparation and review of legal entity tax provisions with business stakeholders.
  • Partner with Finance to support tax compliance deliverables.
  • Drive tax technology implementations, processes, and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop tax risk management and governance strategies to protect the organization.
  • May provide strategic tax advice on business initiatives and emerging tax legislation.
  • Represent the company externally through industry associations and professional tax forums.
