Nunavut Arctic College in Cambridge Bay invites applications for the role of Manager, Residence and Facilities. Reporting to the campus supervisor, you will oversee student and family residences, campus facilities, maintenance, security, and janitorial services, ensuring a safe and supportive living and learning environment.

You will coordinate with staff, contractors, and partners to maintain residences and facilities and supervise residence and facilities staff.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Facility Management or related field with minimum 3 years in residence operations or facilities.
  • One year of supervisory experience including staff management and performance oversight.
  • WHMIS certification and ability to respond to emergencies are required.

Reporting to the applicable Campus supervisor, the Manager, Residence and Facilities is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and supportive living and learning environment for Nunavut Arctic College students and their families. The position manages student and family residences and oversees campus facilities, including maintenance, janitorial and security services. The Manager coordinates with College staff, government departments, landlords, contractors, and other partners to ensure residences and facilities are effectively maintained while responding to the diverse needs of students.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities for the Manager, Residence and Facilities include:

  • Managing student and family residence operations and housing allocations.

  • Overseeing campus facilities, maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

  • Managing security and janitorial services for residences and facilities.

  • Providing student support and coordinating emergency and crisis responses.

  • Supervising, scheduling, training, and supporting residence and facilities staff.

  • Managing contracts, purchasing, budgets, supplies, and facility records

Qualifications

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through acertificate in a relevant field such as Facility Management, Human Services, Administration, or a related discipline with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in residence operations, facility coordination, or student services, preferably in a post-secondary or public sector setting. In addition, one (1) year of supervisory experience, including staff management, scheduling, and performance oversight is required.

The successful candidate will need to obtain a valid WHMIS certification as well as have the ability to respond to emergencies and provide basic support outside regular working hours.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset.Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture,land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
