As a Manager of Quality Engineering, the incumbent will hold a pivotal role in driving excellence and innovation in software testing practices across Retail Lending technology. Your primary responsibility will be to establish presence and lead a centralized hub of expertise (10+ QAs), resources, and best practices to elevate the quality of software testing efforts and outcomes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams/PODs to define, implement, maintain, and train Quality Engineers, to continuously improve testing strategies, methodologies, and processes.
Based on experience and portfolio needs, the Manager of Quality Engineering will also include people management responsibilities. The Manager will be required to functionally manage their resources and also hire, coach, and develop their direct reports.
Main Activities
- People Management Responsibilities (20%)
- Leadership: Provide leadership to the Quality Engineering team and cross-functional PODs, inspiring a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Training & Development: Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and mentoring sessions to enhance the skills and competencies of Quality Engineers. Focus should also be placed on coaching and developing the QA team members.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities (80%)
- Assist in delivering the strategic direction and roadmap of the Quality Engineering, aligning it with organizational goals and priorities.
- Establish mechanisms for capturing, documenting, and sharing testing knowledge, experiences, and best practices across the Retail Lending Technology pillar.
- Standardize testing processes, methodologies, and tools to ensure consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness across PODs.
- Implement quality assurance measures and metrics to assess the effectiveness and maturity of testing practices and drive continuous improvement.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and industry best practices in software testing, and lead initiatives to innovate and experiment with new approaches.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior leadership and cross-functional PODs, to understand their needs and ensure alignment with QA Enablement objectives.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of QA initiatives and activities.
- Champion a culture of change and transformation, facilitating the adoption of new testing methodologies, tools, and practices across the Retail Lending Technology pillar.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software development testing.
- 5+ years of expertise in testing methodologies, tools, and practices with advanced automation in API and UI environments.
- 3+ years of proven people management experience (managing teams of 5–10+ QA engineers on/offshore).
- Preferred experience in Enterprise Banking or established FinTech companies.
- Preferred certifications such as ISTQB, CSTE, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills to engage and inspire stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with agile methodologies and change management, driving organizational change and adoption of new practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
