Job Details

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide performance management, coaching, ongoing support, and development for the team; deliver training to staff as required.
  • Manage and oversee month-end/year-end closing procedures and daily accounting activities of the Pharmacy Accounting team, including:
    • Perform and review GL account reconciliations, ensuring proper support and analysis.
    • Ensure manual journal entries are completed with backup, reviewed for accuracy, and compliant with US GAAP and SOX.
    • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
    • Report financial information promptly on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
    • Support analysis of inventory variances.
    • Assist with documentation and testing of internal controls under SOX.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of financial reporting and the general ledger structure.
  • Support the general accounting team to meet all financial reporting deadlines, ensuring completeness and accuracy of results.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to safeguard inventory and ensure financial accuracy across storage locations.
  • Advise on handling non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Collaborate with finance team members to achieve department goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and resource utilization while maintaining high accuracy standards.
  • Engage in continuous process improvement, supporting ERP system enhancements, upgrades, or conversions.
  • Respond to inquiries from senior management regarding financial results and reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Business with emphasis in Accounting; CPA required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in inventory management.
  • Prior supervisory experience in financial reporting and general ledger areas is required.
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry is preferred.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and ERP systems; Sage experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Robust mathematical and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to implement audit-compliant processes.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
