Job summary

Compass-Group Scarborough division is seeking a Manager Housekeeping and Laundry to lead and develop the housekeeping team, ensuring infection control and safety standards across the unit.

The role includes staff training, payroll preparation, shift coordination, and performance management in a fast-paced environment. Union experience is a plus, and high organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of Housekeeping Supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of housekeeping procedures and laundry management with emphasis on Infection Control, Standard Precautions and Health & Safety.
• Previous experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills both one-on-one and in group situations.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, trains and inspects housekeeping staff to meet unit standards.
• Oversees personnel management: interviews, hiring, evaluation, and occasional termination per Compass standards and union agreement.
• Coordinate housekeeping activities with emphasis on Infection Control and Health & Safety.
• Follow policies and procedures to meet site needs.
• Conduct audits to ensure proper cleaning procedures and document in electronic system.
• Ensure staff clock in, manage call-offs and shift replacements; document.
• Complete payroll requirements daily and weekly.
• Prepare and distribute assignment sheets; communicate changes throughout shifts.
• Assign keys and devices to staff and safeguard assets.
• Check equipment for supplies, cleanliness and maintenance; instruct corrective action.
• Assist staff to uphold highest cleanliness and service standards and train as needed.

This is a maternity leave coverage contract.

The salary for this position is $43,000. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Now, if you were to come on board as aManager Housekeeping and laundry , we’d ask you to do the following for us:

• Supervises, trains and inspects the performance of assigned housekeeping staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit's standards.
• Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department. Personnel Management includes new associate interviews, selection, hiring, evaluation and on occasion termination in accordance with Compass Standards, Client Contract and applicable Union Collective Agreement.
• Coordinate and support all relevant activities of the housekeeping department with a special emphasis on Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety.
• Follows appropriate policies, procedures, job routines to meet the needs of the site.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure employees are following proper cleaning procedures, document audits in electronic program.
• Ensure assigned staff have reported to work and clocked in properly, document late or absent employees.
• Document call offs and replace for any shift and coordinate assigned staff breaks.
• Complete daily & weekly payroll requirements
• Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to staff and review priorities. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
• Assign designated keys, pagers, iPads to assigned staff. Maintain accurate record of such assignments and ensure security of keys.
• Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
• Assist staff to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service and conduct staff training as assigned.
