Job summary

Compass Group Canada (Beaver) Ltd. is seeking a Manager Housekeeping and Laundry for maternity leave coverage in Toronto, ON. You will supervise housekeeping staff, manage payroll, and coordinate infection control and safety initiatives while ensuring staffing coverage and compliance with union standards.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of housekeeping supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of housekeeping procedures and laundry management with emphasis on infection control and health & safety.
• Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively written and orally.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills; ability to prioritize.
• Excellent computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, trains and inspects housekeeping staff to ensure standards are met.
• Manages personnel functions: interviews, hiring, evaluation, and occasional termination per Compass standards and union agreement.
• Coordinate housekeeping activities with emphasis on infection control and safety.
• Follow policies and routines to meet site needs.
• Conduct audits to ensure proper cleaning procedures and document in electronic systems.
• Ensure staff clock in, report to work, and document attendance.
• Arrange staffing alerts, replacements and shift coverage.
• Complete daily and weekly payroll requirements.
• Prepare and distribute assignment sheets; communicate changes during shifts.
• Assign keys, pagers and iPads; maintain record of equipment and ensure security.
• Check equipment and supplies; instruct staff to correct deficiencies.
• Assist staff to maintain highest cleanliness and service standards and conduct training.

Job description

This is a maternity leave coverage contract.

The salary for this position is $43,000. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Now, if you were to come on board as a Manager Housekeeping and laundry, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

• Supervises, trains and inspects the performance of assigned housekeeping staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit's standards.
• Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department. Personnel Management includes new associate interviews, selection, hiring, evaluation and on occasion termination in accordance with Compass Standards, Client Contract and applicable Union Collective Agreement.
• Coordinate and support all relevant activities of the housekeeping department with a special emphasis on Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety.
• Follows appropriate policies, procedures, job routines to meet the needs of the site.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure employees are following proper cleaning procedures, document audits in electronic program.
• Ensure assigned staff have reported to work and clocked in properly, document late or absent employees.
• Document call offs and replace for any shift and coordinate assigned staff breaks.
• Complete daily & weekly payroll requirements
• Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to staff and review priorities. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
• Assign designated keys, pagers, iPads to assigned staff. Maintain accurate record of such assignments and ensure security of keys.
• Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
• Assist staff to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service and conduct staff training as assigned.
