Compass Group Canada (Beaver) Ltd. is seeking a Manager Housekeeping and Laundry to lead and supervise housekeeping staff, ensuring adherence to unit standards and infection control practices.

You will manage personnel functions including interviews, hiring, evaluation, and coordinating with the union environment as applicable. The role emphasizes health and safety, payroll duties, equipment checks, staff training, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.

Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of Housekeeping Supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of housekeeping procedures and laundry management with focus on Infection Control and Health & Safety.
• Previous experience in a unionized environment preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, trains and inspects the performance of assigned housekeeping staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit's standards.
• Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department, including interviews, hiring, evaluation, and termination in accordance with Compass Standards and applicable agreements.
• Coordinate and support activities of the housekeeping department with emphasis on Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety.
• Follow policies and procedures to meet site needs.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure proper cleaning procedures and document audits.
• Ensure staff report to work, clock in properly, and document lateness or absences.
• Document call-offs and arrange shift replacements; coordinate staff breaks.
• Complete daily and weekly payroll requirements.
• Prepare and distribute assignment sheets; communicate changes as they arise.
• Assign keys, pagers, and iPads; maintain records and security of assets.
• Check equipment for supplies and cleanliness; instruct staff to correct deficiencies.
• Assist staff to maintain high cleanliness and service standards and conduct training.

Job description

The salary for this position is $43,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. • Supervises, trains and inspects the performance of assigned housekeeping staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit's standards.
• Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department. Personnel Management includes new associate interviews, selection, hiring, evaluation and on occasion termination in accordance with Compass Standards, Client Contract and applicable Union Collective Agreement.
• Coordinate and support all relevant activities of the housekeeping department with a special emphasis on Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety.
• Follows appropriate policies, procedures, job routines to meet the needs of the site.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure employees are following proper cleaning procedures, document audits in electronic program.
• Ensure assigned staff have reported to work and clocked in properly, document late or absent employees.
• Document call offs and replace for any shift and coordinate assigned staff breaks.
• Complete daily & weekly payroll requirements
• Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to staff and review priorities. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
• Assign designated keys, pagers, iPads to assigned staff. Maintain accurate record of such assignments and ensure security of keys.
• Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
• Assist staff to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service and conduct staff training as assigned.
