Job summary

ESS Compass Canada is seeking a housekeeping supervisor for a remote camp setting. You will supervise, train and inspect housekeeping staff to ensure standards, safety and efficiency.

You will organize workloads, monitor supplies, and lead daily toolbox talks while supporting training initiatives for custodial teams. The role requires at least 2 years in housekeeping, strong leadership and communication, and the physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• 2 years of housekeeping experience and/or training in custodial work.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train and inspect the performance of assigned housekeeping and janitorial staff to ensure procedures meet unit standards.
• Perform training on staff members and oversee overall training activities for housekeeping and custodial teams.
• Act as a knowledge resource on cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Coordinate and support housekeeping and custodial department activities.
• Develop and follow policies and routines to meet site needs.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and manage costs within budget.
• Lead daily safety toolbox talks and communicate workload priorities to staff.
• Check equipment for proper operation and instruct staff to correct deficiencies.
• Assist staff to ensure high standards of cleanliness and service.
• Organize projects under supervisor or manager guidance.
• Perform room cleaning and deep cleaning as required.
• Attend trainings and safety programs to stay current with policies.

Description

You will be responsible for supervising, training and inspecting the performance of assigned housekeeping and janitorial staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit's standards. You will be responsible for performing training team members and oversees overall training activities for housekeeping and custodial associates. You will act as a resource for others due to knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and commercial cleaning equipment.

• Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department. Personnel Management includes new associate training and evaluation in accordance with Compass Standards, Client Contract and applicable Union Collective Agreement.
• Coordinate and support all relevant activities of the housekeeping and janitorial departments.
• Develop and follows appropriate policies, procedures, job routines to meet the needs of the site.
• Conduct regular inventory of housekeeping and janitorial supplies and order these, keeping costs in line with approved budgetary amounts.
• Ensure assigned staff have reported to work and clocked in properly; document late or absent employees.
• Lead safety toolbox meetings daily.
• Prepare and distribute assignment workload sheets to staff and review priorities. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
• Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
• Assist staff to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service and conduct staff training as assigned.
• Help organize projects under the direction of the Supervisor(s) or Manager.
• Clean and maintain areas such as floors, stairways, and carpets by performing tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing, dry/wet mopping, auto scrubbing.
• Asist with room cleaning and deep cleaning projects when required.
• Attend in-services, departmental meetings, and education programs such as WHMIS, Standard Precautions, and Infection Control as required to keep current with housekeeping technology, practices, safety issues, and company policies and procedures.

The hourly wage for this position is $26.00 .Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
