Job summary

City of Greater Sudbury is seeking a Manager of Facility Design and Construction to lead planning, design and delivery of facility infrastructure projects from a City-wide perspective. You will supervise a multidisciplinary team and manage budgets while ensuring compliance with regulations and strategic priorities.

The role requires a P.Eng. with Ontario PE0, a university engineering degree, and at least seven years in a large organization, with strong leadership and communication skills in

Qualifications

  • University degree in related engineering discipline.
  • P.Eng. designation with PEO.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in a large, complex organization with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure planning, design and construction, including applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven project management, budgeting and strategic planning experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; French an asset.
  • Valid Class G driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager of Community Infrastructure, the Manager of Facility Design and Construction is responsible for overseeing the planning, design and delivery of facility infrastructure projects that support organizational priorities and community needs. You will lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality capital projects while fostering innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping municipal infrastructure through strategic leadership, sound financial management and effective project delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Minimum seven years of relevant experience in a large, complex organization, with demonstrated leadership experience; supervisory experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure planning, design and construction, including applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven project management, budgeting and strategic planning experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; French language skills are an asset.

Salary and Additional Benefits

The salary range for this position is $136,805.76 to $160,995.24 per year (subject to review*). We also offer a comprehensive health benefits plan (100 per cent employer-paid), an OMERS pension plan, life insurance, an Employee Assistance Program and more. We provide a supportive work environment that promotes work-life integration.

Additional Notes

This role may be filled as a development opportunity if a fully qualified candidate is not identified. Salary will reflect a developmental range until qualifications are met.
