POSITION SUMMARY
Are you passionate about people, purpose, and performance? TNDC is looking for a dynamic and experienced Indigenous Human Resources professional to join us as Manager, Human Resources. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, you will lead our HR team and champion a culture of respect, inclusion, and high performance. You’ll be the go-to guide for everything from employee relations and recruitment to training, performance management, and policy development—all while supporting the growth and success of Indigenous communities and fostering inclusive workplaces.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and participates in training new HR staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Leads the corrective action process of employees in accordance with TNDC’s values and policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement, review, oversee and manage all HR functions, systems, and processes across the organization or designated work sites.
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Oversee the daily administration of human resource operations including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; corrective action matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and employee morale.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Support recruitment and onboarding strategies to attract, hire, and retain qualified candidates.
- Administer compensation and benefits programs in alignment with company standards and budget.
- Collaborate with the learning and development department regarding workplace training initiatives, including compliance, leadership development, and cultural competency.
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, and collective agreements (if applicable).
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Promote a positive work culture rooted in respect, inclusion, and accountability.
- Participate in strategic planning related to workforce development and organizational structure.
- Provide mentorship to HR staff and foster team development.
- Reporting and maintaining the HR dashboard.
- Other duties as required for the success of TNDC.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Employment Law: Deep understanding of local, provincial, and federal labour laws and regulations.
- HRIS & Data Management: Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), payroll systems, and employee data reporting.
- Policy Development Support: Ability to create, implement, and update company policies and procedures.
- Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Skilled in end-to-end hiring processes, workforce planning, and candidate evaluation.
- Performance Management: Implementing and coaching on goal setting, feedback, evaluations, and disciplinary processes.
- Compensation & Benefits Administration: Knowledge of wage structures, employee benefits, and total rewards programs.
- Safety Leadership:Understanding of workplace safety standards and risk management practices, with a Safety First, Safety Always mindset.
- Communication:Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement, reflecting TNDC’s value ofRespect.
- Problem-Solving:Ability to identify issues and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment, demonstratingHigh Performanceand innovation.
- Cultural Sensitivity:Awareness and respect for Indigenous communities and diverse perspectives, aligning with TNDC’s commitment toDiversity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field experience (CHRP/CPHR designation is an asset).
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Solid knowledge of British Columbia employment legislation, workplace health & safety, and HR best practices.
- Experience working in industrial, construction, mining, or remote work environments is an asset.
- Demonstrated strength in conflict resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities or within culturally diverse settings is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a remote environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Willingness to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends, evenings, or extended hours to meet deliverables during busy periods.
- Willing to travel to site or local offices regularly.
- Ability to manage stress and perform effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work in a remote and challenging environment.
- Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol screening.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
