Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Manager Housekeeping and Laundry to oversee housekeeping staff and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety across the site. The role emphasizes infection control, payroll duties, and effective staff scheduling.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of supervisory housekeeping experience, strong administrative skills, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining compliance with safety and union guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of housekeeping supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures and laundry management with emphasis on infection control and safety.
  • Union environment experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, trains and inspects housekeeping staff to ensure standards.
  • Handles personnel management functions including interviews, hiring and evaluations per policy.
  • Coordinates activities with infection control and safety requirements.
  • Maintains adherence to policies and job routines to meet site needs.
  • Conducts audits to ensure proper cleaning procedures and documents results.
  • Manages attendance, clock-ins, call-offs and payroll documentation.

Job description

The salary range for this position is $40,000 to $43,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Further details regarding our total rewards program will be shared by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not a requirement for this role. Please note that artificial intelligence–based tools may be used at certain stages of the recruitment and applicant screening process.

Now, If You Were To Come On Board As a Manager Housekeeping And Laundry , We’d Ask You To Do The Following For Us

  • Supervises, trains and inspects the performance of assigned housekeeping staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit’s standards.
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department. Personnel Management includes new associate interviews, selection, hiring, evaluation and on occasion termination in accordance with Compass Standards, Client Contract and applicable Union Collective Agreement.
  • Coordinate and support all relevant activities of the housekeeping department with a special emphasis on Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Follows appropriate policies, procedures, job routines to meet the needs of the site.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure employees are following proper cleaning procedures, document audits in electronic program.
  • Ensure assigned staff have reported to work and clocked in properly, document late or absent employees.
  • Document call offs and replace for any shift and coordinate assigned staff breaks.
  • Complete daily & weekly payroll requirements
  • Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to staff and review priorities. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
  • Assign designated keys, pagers, iPads to assigned staff. Maintain accurate record of such assignments and ensure security of keys.
  • Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
  • Assist staff to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service and conduct staff training as assigned.

  • At least two (2) years of Housekeeping Supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of all housekeeping procedures and laundry management with a strong emphasis on Infection Control, Standard Precautions and Health & Safety.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills both one-on-one and in group situations.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize
  • Excellent computer skills.
