Job summary

Bombardier is seeking a Manager, Flight Operations Challenger at the Dorval Plant to lead flight operations with qualified crews, ensure regulatory compliance and manage pilot training records on site.

The role requires an ATPL, Class 1 medical, and extensive flight experience (5,000 hours total, 1,000 hours PIC on large multi-engine aircraft). Strong leadership and communication are essential for coordinating safety and documentation.

  • Solid knowledge of aviation regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to manage flight operations with qualified crews.
  • Experience with training records management and operational documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure flight operations are conducted with qualified crews in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain pilot training records electronically and on site.
  • Ensure pilots meet standards and carry out operational monitoring.
  • Oversee site safety pilot duties and ensure safe, expeditious operations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining flight operations manuals and documentation.
  • Document and report flight safety events following the Flight Operations SMS.
  • Coordinate addition of aircraft to the TC POR with the Director of Flight Operations.

What are your contributions to the team?

In your role you will be accountable to the Director, Flight Operations for ensuring that:

  • The assigned flight operations are conducted with qualified crews in accordance with the regulatory requirements.
  • All flight crews assigned duties on Bombardier aircraft meet the required standard for the assigned task.
  • Pilot training records are maintained electronically and accessible on site.
  • On-site pilots meet the requirements and standards for completion and maintenance of BCOM PCC.
  • Pilots are assigned operational and training duties and monitors these duties to ensure Bombardier Standards and regulatory compliance.
  • All flight operations are conducted in a safe, legal and expeditious manner.
  • Assistance is provided in the development and maintenance of all related flight operations manuals and documentation.
  • All flight safety reports, occurrences and infractions are documented and reported in accordance with the Flight Operations SMS.
  • A site pilot is assigned as Site Safety Pilot and ensuring that they have sufficient time and support to accomplish their duties effectively.
  • Requests for addition of aircraft to the TC POR are forwarded to the Director Flight Operations.
How to thrive in this role?

As our ideal candidate:

  • Hold a valid Canadian ATPL and a Class 1 medical. A US ATP is an asset.
  • A minimum of: 5,000 hours of total flight time with 1,000 hours PIC on large multi engine aircraft.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and to travel on short notice.
  • Previous management experience and 2 years flight test experience.
  • Significant international experience is an asset.
  • A university degree or a strong technical background in certification or training is a definite asset.
  • Sound knowledge of the Canadian Aviation regulations.
  • The right to work and live in Canada is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • The ability to execute the duties of an aircraft commander while maintaining a positive and cooperative relationship with the crew and management.
  • Managing stressful situations.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
