The Opportunity

The position of Manager, Events & Community Engagement is responsible for executing the strategic and operational plans for the portfolio on a year-to-year basis. The incumbent must have both relationship management and fundraising event experience, be a strategic thinker and a collaborative leader, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility.

The Role:

Reporting to the Director, Events & Community Engagement, the Manager, Events & Community Engagement is primarily responsible for leading the operational delivery of the Events portfolio, while contributing to the strategic direction and growth opportunities of the portfolio. The Manager also provides input on improving internal processes, shares best practices and acts as a subject matter expert in the fundraising event field.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage the end-to-end strategic planning and execution of all Events within their portfolio (virtual and in person), including Fundraising, Stewardship & Cultivation and Community Third-Party Events.
  2. Act as the internal point person for the Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women, working collaboratively with event organizers and title sponsor to support the partnership, prospect and grow new teams and assist with operations as needed.
  3. Act as point person for the Foundation’s young leader committee, NeWCHapter; providing them with direction and support to achieve their fundraising goals as required.
  4. Support the Director, Events & Community Engagement with the planning and execution of the Foundation’s Signature Events.
  5. Monitor event goals and budget: gather and track ROI, engagement analytics, and feedback to consistently assess and implement opportunities for improvement.
  6. Drive revenue generation through the enhancement of existing, and development of new activations and assets within events.
  7. Partner with internal cross-functional teams to create event agendas, sponsorship support, and content that meets established targets.
  8. Working collaboratively with Marketing & Communications Team, act as the content expert for the Events page on the Foundation website (https://womenscollegehospitalfoundation.com/events/) ensuring information is up to date and new events and supporters are being highlighted on a timely basis.
  9. Monitor the Events Inbox and delegate questions and tasks accordingly.
  10. Provide coaching, education, and development to team members as to event best practices when applicable.

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Proactively provide recommendations to optimize the portfolio’s contribution to the Foundation’s strategic goals.
  2. Source and manage relationships with external partners and vendors for multiple event needs, including negotiation and contract review.
  3. Act as primary liaison for select event committees.
  4. Identify and cultivate prospects for community outreach, event participants and attendees.
  5. Ensure all internal events are implemented in accordance with Hospital policy and procedures in collaboration with the hospital Strategic Communications team.

Specific to the delivery of Foundation events:

  1. May be responsible for setup and strike of furniture and equipment for meeting and events, which may require lifting of heavy objects at times.
  2. Some evening and weekend work is required.
  3. Valid Ontario Driver’s License an asset.
  4. Access to a vehicle is preferable.

Qualifications:

  1. 6-8 years in an event role with demonstrated success managing people in a fundraising environment.
  2. Experience working with senior leaders and volunteer committees.
  3. Proven creativity & superior organizational skills.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of budgeting and accounting principles.
  5. Demonstrated initiative and collaboration skills with an emphasis on leading cross-functionally.
  6. Solid working knowledge of Teams, Zoom, Webex Meetings and other industry technology, including virtual event delivery methods and web-based tools such as NXT, CVENT and Funraisin.
  7. Ability to work well under pressure and efficiently on multiple initiatives at various stages of development simultaneously.
  8. Experience working under tight deadlines and with competing priorities.
  9. Post-secondary education in a relevant field, PMP designation would be considered an asset.

Salary Range: $82,500 - $87,500. Eligibility for merit pay and comprehensive benefits including Healthcare Ontario Pension Plan enrollment.
