Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage, recruit, train, develop, and provide performance feedback to direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Assist in establishing and achieving warehouse performance objectives (KPIs) and strategic planning.
- Plan for and direct warehouse operations, including production and labor planning.
- Partner closely with maintenance and inventory control to meet productivity and service goals.
- Establish operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling merchandise, and maintaining inventory.
- Ensure operations team compliance with standard work instructions (SWI).
- Support initiatives to ensure proper receipt, storage, handling, and distribution of food safety, food quality, and employee health and safety at the facility.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Function as a backup to the General Manager.
- Maintain customer contact as requested by the General Manager.
- Participate in marketing and sales efforts, including planning new account strategies, prospecting, sales calls, developing and quoting rates, negotiating contracts, and closing sales, when requested.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
- 4 years of Operations Management experience in Supply Chain or related field.
- Proficiency in strategy development, execution, and operational performance management.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies like Six Sigma and/or LEAN.
- Experience managing, training, and developing operational staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead discussions, make presentations, and communicate technical results to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of dealing with ambiguity.
- Ability to work in cold storage environments as low as -20°F/-25°C and up to 100°F/37°C while wearing PPE.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs./18 kg.
- Comfortable with varying noise levels.
