Manager, Business (Data) Process Analytics

Apex Systems is a global IT services firm and our staffing practice is looking for a Manager, Business (Data) Process Analytics with experience working with SAS Enterprise Guide (EG), SQL, Excel, and a Business Data Analyst mindset, to place at our client, a Big Five Bank. You will join a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and high-performing team.

Line of Business: Personal and Business Banking (Investment Process)

Length of Contract: 6 months, with the possibility of extension

Working Location: 2 times a week out of Downtown Toronto

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Job Description:

The Manager, Business (Data) Process Analytics is responsible for developing, producing, and owning business process metrics and reporting across Personal and Business Banking.

The individual will have end-to-end project accountability, starting with understanding business KPIs, leveraging process design expertise to determine efficient reporting processes, conducting ad hoc analysis to identify organizational improvements, and developing reports with structured data flow and automation. Ownership continues post-implementation with ongoing investigations, improvements, and partner management.

Key Accountabilities

Analytic Capabilities & Critical Thinking

  • Understand business KPIs and relevant drivers to achieve objectives.
  • Comprehend data elements at various levels (transaction, account, product, customer, employee, channel, line of business) and their intersections.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets from multiple sources to derive insights and recommendations.
  • Adhere to data best practices including QA, stable design, code optimization, and automation.
  • Design and improve reporting processes for performance and consumption.
  • Support multiple projects, focusing on a regulatory project for the investment line of business.

Design and Delivery of Performance Reporting and Dashboards

  • Create performance measurement reports and visualizations to monitor process health.
  • Develop and maintain standardized dashboards and reports for business partners.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine report design.
  • Present complex data in an understandable way.
  • Create new analyses/tools to deliver actionable insights.

Leadership and Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with analytics teams and subject matter experts to ensure consistency.
  • Establish standards for requirements, technical documentation, and reporting processes.
  • Engage with business partners for updates and transparency.
  • Provide guidance and insights through consultative sessions.
  • Flag areas for investigation or growth during interactions.
  • Deliver results within tight timeframes, meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Ensure reports meet governance and risk policies, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge

  • BSc/BA in Commerce, Finance, Statistics, Quantitative Methods, Math, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong foundation in data analysis.
  • Ability to extract data from multiple sources and create comprehensive reports.
  • Strong pattern recognition and causal analysis skills.

Skills

  • Expertise in SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in SAS EG coding.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar is preferred.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive attitude and passion for analytics.
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and self-checking.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks.
